An Imagesmithstudio tour

The constant flux of the tides
marks the minutes and hours of beach time, changing the landscape and the experience of the beach itself.  The rock featured in these photographs may be completely submerged in the high tide that accompanies the full moon, or stand over seven feet tall, allowing its dense covering of marine life to be examined from any side.

At early morning high tide, waves crash into the cove's volcanic rock formations and foam coats the beach.

The submarine-shaped formation our family has come to know as Alex's rock (also visible in the very center of the picture at left) is blasted by the incoming tide.

Alex's rock at mid-tide just after a wave has hit.
Note the water still streaming off.

At low tide.  On the left are the whimsical
 formations of the cove.
